In early 2020, we were off-roading in the Southern California desert when we came across Brutus Baby. We were really surprised by this little guy. Tough as nails, and super friendly.

With a little coaxing, he (it?) agreed to come home with us.
A few months after finding him, we took him back to the same place we first met him. He seemed happy to be there, but after a few hours, he willingly jumped into our SUV and came home with us.

We don't know how long he'll stay with our family. He can leave anytime, and sometimes he does for several days. So far, he has always come back, and he seems happy living with us.

We don't know what he is, but he's not human.
He's surprisingly heavy for his size, and he seems to be made of a dense plastic/metal material that is strong and flexible. He's very fast -- like a lizard. Heat, cold, and rain don't bother him. One time we stepped on him by mistake, and he did not seem to care. We doubt a small predator could hurt him. As for a big dog or a large coyote, we don't know. All we know is that he always comes back unharmed, and he has no fear of being outside, alone, at night.

We don't know how long he'll stay with us, but we're loving every minute of it. We have zero problems with him while he's in the house. Oh ... and ... he loves to watch TV with us -- especially nature shows or Disney movies with animal characters.

We found Brutus Baby in the Johnson Valley off-road recreation area of San Bernardino County, CA. We were out 4-wheeling and hiking when we first saw him.
